FAQ’s

What is 2D / 3D / 4D ultrasound?

2D ultrasounds provide traditional black-and-white, flat images of your baby. 3D ultrasounds create detailed, three-dimensional images that show the baby's external features more clearly, giving a lifelike view. 4D (also known as HD Live) adds the element of motion, allowing you to see real-time movements such as yawning, stretching, or smiling. Each type offers unique benefits depending on the stage of pregnancy.

What’s the difference between elective ultrasound at Sweet Cheeks & the ultrasound my doctor ordered?

Sweet Cheeks offers elective ultrasound services only. These scans are to provide you with beautiful photos and a fun family experience. We do not provide medical testing or medical advice, and we are not to be used in place of a medical ultrasound with your doctor. You do NOT need a doctors order, but we do ask for your physician’s name and phone number in case of emergency.

When should I come in?

Visit us anytime during your pregnancy! We recommend coming in once in the first trimester (around 8-14 weeks), and again in the second trimester to see how much baby has grown. The best time for 3D imaging is around 21-30 weeks! Reach out to us to schedule the best time for your ultrasound!

How can I get the best pictures?

We will do everything we can do get you the best photos! We even offer a FREE rescan if we are unable to see gender or get 3D photos of baby. However, there are many factors that influence the quality of ultrasound images. Image quality highly depends on baby’s position, maternal/fetal body habitus, placental location, amount of amniotic fluid, etc. It is very important to drink lots of water at least one week before your scheduled ultrasound! The more hydrated mom is, the better image quality we will get! For the best 3D photos, we recommend coming in between 21-30 weeks!

Will you be able to determine my baby’s gender?

We will always do our best to determine baby’s gender. We offer gender scans starting at 16 weeks. However, we cannot guarantee that baby will cooperate during the scan to allow us to see his/her gender. Many factors influence gender determination : fetal position, body habitus, placental location, and most importantly, gestational age. If your baby is not at least 16 weeks gestation, we cannot accurately determine gender because baby is not fully developed. We understand that finding out your baby’s gender is very important, so we do offer a FREE rescan within 2 weeks time if we are not able to see baby’s gender the first time. We highly recommend waiting to plan any gender reveal parties until AFTER we have confirmed baby’s gender, due to the possibility of not being able to see clearly.
